Celebrity came knocking for us back in July 2009 when interior designer and TV star Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen pitched up with only a half hours notice. The flamboyant presenter was working on a new show, House Gift, in which he and two other designers compete to find a perfect gift for a family home - without meeting the owners. The designers had a choice of three envelopes containing £80, £300 or £1000 to spend. Armed with £300 Lawrence went in search of curtains for the selected Twickenham house, choosing Curtain Call as his first port of call. His first impression of the shop was "An Aladdin's cave of curtainage!"  Having searched through our extensive stock of second-hand curtains and rifling through rolls of fabric in our basement storeroom he earmarked several options, one of which was making a pair of curtains in four hours if he found a suitable fabric elsewhere. Happily, he returned empty handed so settled for his second option of a pair of lovely nearly-new curtains. He then asked Pauline to accompany him and the TV crew back to the house to hang and dress the curtains. We are pleased to say that when the owners returned home later they did choose our curtains as their preferred gift. The show was aired on ITV in September 2009 and again on 17 February 2010.  If you would like to view the programme, please check in ITV.com and view on i-player where it will be on-line for the next 30 days.
